Scrape cost calculator
Put in how many pages you need, what one weighs and how often an attempt fails. The calculator turns that into gigabytes on our meter and prices them at the rates on our pricing page.
Your estimate
- Estimated traffic
- 12.47 GB
- Attempts per page kept
- 1.18
- Cost at the entry rate, $5.50/GB
- $68.60
- Order that covers it
- 13 GB
- Volume step reached
- 10 GB and up, $3.95/GB
- Order total
- $51.35
An estimate from your numbers. Checkout in the dashboard shows the final figure before you pay.
ISP and Datacenter are priced by the IP and the term, so this calculator leaves them out. Their pricing pages have a calculator for IPs and terms.
On our meter
What the estimate bills
The calculator follows the metering rules on our honesty page. These two decide most of the arithmetic.
- We bill response body plus response headers, measured at our proxy. Request bytes are free.
- Connection failures (timeouts, resets, and errors from our own gateway such as a 407 or a 502) are billed at zero and still shown, marked free. Anything the site sends back is traffic, 403s, 429s, 5xx pages and captchas included: inside an HTTPS tunnel our proxy cannot see the site’s status code, so the meter counts the bytes that crossed it.
The arithmetic
How the estimate is worked out
The formula from our post on estimating a scrape, with failed attempts split the way our meter bills them.
attempts per page = 1 ÷ (1 − failure share)
billed blocks = (attempts per page − 1) × share with a body
GB = pages × (page weight + billed blocks × block weight) ÷ 1,000,000,000
cost = GB × rate per GBRead more
