What is my IP address and IP type
One click shows the public IP address sites see for you, the network that announces it, what kind of network that is, and the flags IP databases put on it. The same things a site reads before it decides whether to trust a proxy.
Look up your IP
Pressing the button sends your IP address to ipapi.is, which looks it up and sends the result straight back to your browser. We do not receive or store the result. Privacy policy

What each line tells a proxy buyer
Sites check these same facts about every visitor. When you test a proxy, they are the facts that decide whether its label holds up.
- IP address
The public address sites see for you. Through a proxy, it should be the proxy’s exit IP. If you see your own home address, traffic is not going through the proxy.
- Network (ASN)
The autonomous system that announces the address, with the organisation that holds it. This is the fact that matters most: a home broadband provider means one thing, a cloud or hosting company another.
- Network type and holder type
How the IP database classes the network and the company holding the address block: ISP, hosting, business, education, government or banking. A residential IP should sit on an ISP network. An ISP proxy should too, even though the server is in a data centre.
- Datacenter address
Whether the database places the address in a hosting or cloud range. Expected on a datacenter proxy. On a line sold as residential, a run of these is the classic sign of a relabelled pool.
- VPN, proxy and Tor flags
Guesses from abuse and detection lists. A proxy flag on its own says little, since any address that has carried proxy traffic tends to collect one. A Tor flag means a Tor exit node, which many sites block outright.
- Location
Country and city from a geolocation database. The country is usually right. The city is often a guess, and a nearby city is not evidence of anything.
Geolocation databases disagree with each other, so another lookup site may show a different city or even a different country for the same IP.
Check a proxy
Use this page to check a proxy’s exit IP
- In the dashboard, add the IP this page shows to your service’s IP allowlist, so the browser can use the proxy with HOST and PORT alone.
- Point your browser at the proxy. Firefox has its own connection settings; most other browsers use the system proxy settings.
- Reload this page and press the button. The result is now the proxy’s exit IP and its network.
- Compare it with what you ordered, then switch the browser back to a direct connection.
